Stone Staircase
Detail Design
This stone staircase is ingenious.
We were provided with a Sketchup model which was dimensionally accurate in all the right places. Our client asked us to build the staircase as a solid model in Inventor, using our product design skills to ensure the form flowed as he described.
Details that needed to be integrated were the V-section on the underside, as it draws the eye upwards as you stand beneath them.
Another important aspect is the intersection of the top tread and the first floor level. There is a possibility that this could look awkward.
Once the stone staircase model was complete and signed off by the end client, we handed it over to our client’s specialist design team to work their magic on the insides.
Presentation Renders
We produced a series of renders to present to the end client, in order to facilitate the signing off process.
Product Design & Design Engineering
The final deliverable was a complete solid model from Autodesk Inventor. This could be imported into Rhino, our client’s chosen package.
Details such as the beading on the outer edges of the steps proved to be challenging to get visually right. However, we like a good challenge!
