Sid Around the House

Thursday, December 17th, 2009

These are some of the visuals we’ve produced for Sid in the New Year – for some reason we can’t get Queen’s ‘I Want To Break Free’ out of our heads here in the hutch…agh! These images were produced for large format print, but individual assets were also delivered so our client’s web team could put together flash-based animations of the scenes for online banners and virals.

Santa Sid

This was a quickie produced for D-Link – Sid wearing a Santa hat, which gave us the opportunity to play with the fur technology in LightWave…aaah…fluffy :)

Banksy Sid for D-Link

Saturday, October 17th, 2009

We’ve had the pleasure of producing all the CGI for D-Link’s spaceman character Sid and his sidekick Terrence the cat, both of whom have appeared all over Europe on D-Link’s websites, in virals, on posters, banners, brochures and even on Facebook! Someone in Europe decided they wanted a Banksy-style Sid to appear on a hessian bag, so one colour screenprinting would be the order of the day. So here he is – another style applied to our favourite character.

D-Link Sid the Spaceman goes shopping

Thursday, June 4th, 2009

D-Link Sid goes shoppingFor over 6 months now we have been producing web, print and animation assets for D-Link via their agency DCH. We’ll drop a few images in every now and again to show you what Sid and his sidekick Terrence are up to – this is actually a still from an animation for a web-based flash presentation. Today they’re shopping – though I’m reasonably sure he has to drink through a straw, so it’s all a bit academic really.

Meet D-Link’s new spaceman

Thursday, May 21st, 2009

Forgive us for being a bit slow at posting here for a month or so, to say it’s been a bit busy would be such an understatement we’d expect a good slapping.

We’ve been working with DCH, part of Doner Advertising, for a fair few months now, producing this little chappie (and his puddy tat)  in various situations in formats suitable for DCH to use in flash animations. These can be seen on D-Link’s websites throughout Europe and also in various printed ad campaigns. We’re pretty chuffed throughout to have been asked to work on the project, great fun! To see him in action just pop on over to www.dlink.co.uk

And finally…a Merry Christmas to everyone who stumbles across this blog

Sunday, December 23rd, 2007

Whether you’ve come across this blog by accident (you were looking for ancient Tuvan instruments weren’t you? You’ll be wanting the door next door marked ‘Musical Igils’), whether you’ve happened across it looking for 3D visualisation or graphic design services or, heaven forbid, you’ve actually subscribed to our RSS feed (you know who you are <cough> Martyn <cough>) then we wish you a very merry and peaceful Christmas and rambunctious New Year!! And in true traditional festive style, papa igil is here to wave you off into next year with his seasonal burned marshmallow-on-a-stick, a symbol of some import and weight to the whole of the igil population, a reminder of harder times in our past of huddling around camp fires to keep the cold winter nights at bay, of camraderie, good family moments, and most importantly, of what happens when you sit too close to the fire.

Professor for ITV advert campaign

Friday, December 21st, 2007

A quick bit of character modelling of the professor, watch out for him appearing in an advert on ITV over the Christmas period if you live in the East Midlands region :)

Ok – just one more then!

Thursday, December 15th, 2005

Well – it’s good to carry on something we started last Christmas – a fun project for the sheer hell of it! This year we’ve decided to expose a little more of the albino igil’s life – huddled round camp fires, sharing stories of the year gone by and getting  more than excited by the new fresh year almost here :D Oh, and papooses will be a major fashion accessory next year, mark our words ;)

For the technically savvy here – if this weren’t an actual photograph capturing igils in their natural habitat, then we would have made it completely in 3D using Lightwave 8.5′s internal particle systems to generate the snow, flames and smoke, with the Sasquatch plug-in to generate the cosy fur :D All trees are from the amazing XFrog library, adulterated by ourselves of course as nothing ever comes out of the box doing what you want, and it can all be animated…every last bit of it :D

Urban ‘Urba’ Character

Friday, January 21st, 2005

albino igil was commissioned to design and create a character for a major retailer of portable entertainment devices.

The character, Urba, will be used in the relevant marketing and publicity material by the client.

Igil Christmas Tree

Friday, December 24th, 2004

It’s a pun. It’s a very bad pun. In fact, it”s no pun at all.

(slap)

Okay, this image was our Christmas card for our first year in business just gone, and it’s the first time we managed to photograph several igils performing their rare Christmas Tree formation.
